Baby Jail

I feel like in baby jail! The other night mommy was trying to vacuum bubba's room and my room, so she put me in my crib. I was ok while she was in my room, but when she left it was a whole other story. She pulled up the side since I can sit up on my knees and am trying to pull up. I could not get out and I couldn't see MOMMY! I got really upset. When she came back in the room, she laughed at me and asked if I was in baby jail. I did not think she was funny at all!

Busy Soccer Saturday

Saturday was an especially long "soccer Saturday." We started the cold morning with a 9am soccer game. That game went really well. Riley still has not scored a goal. He is so close. I just knew it was going to happen Saturday, but unfortunately the ball always went wide of the goal. But the main thing is he is learning so much. I am so proud of how far he has come in this short season. Riley is such a hustler. He is always right there involved in the action. After the first game we had a break. We went home, did some laundry, and played for a little bit. Then it was time to grab lunch and head back to the fields for pictures. Oh, and did I mention that Randy was out of town for all of this!! Pictures with a group of 3 & 4 year olds is always such an "interesting" adventure. Riley will either have a serious look or a cheesy smile in his individual picture or the team picture. I just had to stand back and laugh during the team picture. We had tears, yes I said tears, and runaways during the team picture. But luckily none of them involved my sweet boy! What can I say, my son knows about taking pictures!
Immediately following pictures, we had our second game. This game was a fiasco. You could tell that our team all needed a nap. They spent most of the game on the ground and truly had no idea what was going on. It was kind of sad. Absolutely no hustle left, even from my "wild thing."
Here is the first example of the chaos. Notice the girl at the bottom, the ball was in the middle of the dog pile. I have no idea what she is kicking at. That just explains the game... But I think Alex is ready to join the team. After a whole day of activity, she wanted out of that stroller. She had so much fun playing with Riley's soccer ball.

Here is what Riley decided to do, while he wasn't in the game. He didn't want to watch the game, just be a baby!
More chaos. Riley was at least on the ball, but the little boy tackling him is his teammate.

Temper, Temper

OK it is 2:15 in the morning and I am listening to Alex throw the biggest temper tantrum. I made the mistake last week of giving her a bottle in the middle of the night. So of course, now I am having to fix the waking up in the middle of the night again. Here's the scenario: She woke up at 1:00. I went in and changed her diaper. Then I turned her back over and told her "no bottle". She looked up at me and immediately started SCREAMING! I picked her up and tried to rock her. She continued screaming. I then told her that I was not giving in to her temper tantrum and walked out of the room. This process has been going on for 1 hour and 15 minutes and doesn't seem to be slowing. The biggest thing I can tell is by her cry. She is really pissed off at me. But I know if I give in now, then I ruin everything that I have worked the last hour for. The only problem is I DO have to go to work. How am I ever going to get any sleep? Did I mention that I have to get up in 3 hours??????

listening ears

I wanted to tell a funny little story about Riley. Saturday we were on our way to the soccer game when Riley asked me a question. I answered him. He then said, "What did you say Momma I couldn't hear you." So this time, I turned around and restated my answer. This time I could tell that he wasn't listening. So I asked, "Riley, are you listening to me?" He responded, "No, I turned my listening ears off!"
What a stinker!

Bluebonnets

Last Wednesday, my parents & I took the kids to Ennis to the Bluebonnet trails. At first we had to convince Riley that the flowers were not going to scratch him. But he settled in eventually. We saw some beautiful bluebonnets. Always messing with little sister.... Look, Mommy even got to pose Mommy & Alex

Beautiful Baby Girl!

Then we ended the evening with a wonderful dinner at Freebird's! YUM! I really miss having a Freebirds close to us!

Just Jumping Around

This weekend I finally got Alex's jumper put together! She of course loved it. Although she has not figured out the jumping part yet. She really liked it when I bounced her and just playing with all the new toys within her reach. We had a pretty slow weekend. On Saturday, Riley had a soccer game. He is really improving. He had two break aways with him kicking the ball downfield. Unfortunately on the first he kicked it off to the side and the second time, he tripped over the ball. I guess he has too much of his mommy's klutziness in him. But he was so close, maybe next weekend he will score!

Alex has perfected the art of army crawling. She can get to any of Riley's toys in no time. It looks like it is time to do some cleaning out and reorganizing.
Don't you just love this smile???

Church Egg Hunt

Saturday was our church egg hunt. This year our church publicized it broadly to the community. So it was VERY crowded. Riley did not get as many eggs this year, but he didn't seem to miss the extras. He still ate all of his candy before we left the park.

Just a picture to show you just how crowded it was. Alex and I guided Riley while Randy took all the pictures.

Busy crowd shot!

Dying Eggs

Dying Eggs was a little different this year. Jamie & Chad did not get to come up early because Chad had to work. So Nana, Riley, Gampa, & Mommy dyed the eggs. Riley actually decided that he liked to paint them even better. I don't know where this artsy side comes from. Definitely not his parents.
After dying eggs, we dyed the baby! OK, not really but Alex was one really messy eater while her Nana was feeding her!
Riley loved the egg spinner. I think he just likes beating one it.

The Egg Hunt

This year Riley had a little competition in the egg hunting. His baby cousin Caleb decided to take part in the action with a little help from his daddy, Chad. I wish I could say that Alex also participated, but she was sound asleep. She had insisted on staying awake all through lunch and the hanging out in the house. Then just before we were ready to hide the eggs, she gave out. And they are off! Who will get the first egg??? Did you find one in the chiminea?

Hey what is inside this egg?

Always the classic Egg hunting pose!

Chad & Caleb inspect their finds!

Easter pictures

On Saturday we started our Easter rush. We had Riley's soccer game at 9 Saturday morning. He of course had so much fun again. This game involved lots more running and less falling down in one big dog pile. After coming home to clean up and eat lunch we headed off to Portrait Innovations to have our Easter pictures taken. Unfortunately when we arrived we found out they were running 30 minutes behind schedule. Although this worked out for the best because both kids were naping in the car. I stayed in the car while they slept and my mom sat in the studio waiting for our turn. Riley did not wake up in a good mood, but our "baby whisperer" photograper worked magic.

Pretty girl sitting up all by herself.

Such sweet sibling love!

I love that handsome smile! Check out those size 12 feet!

Alex was so cute when we took this picture. She discovered that the chair rocked and just kept rocking back and forth, which added to the smiles!

Almost crawling!

Alex is soooo close to crawling. She gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth. But she just can't figure out how to move forward. You can tell by the look on her face that she is starting to get really frustrated that she can not get what she wants.
OK I've got my bootie in the air, now what??

Fine, if I can't move forward then I will just suck on my fingers!

Nationwide Race

This weekend we went to the Nascar races. As usual it was quite the Farris event. This year we added a few more women (yea!) and Riley! Uncle Jerry, Aunt Lovena, Danielle, Jason, & Ryan enjoying the warmth & sunshine

Daddy & Riley - This was Riley's 1st car races. I forgot to bring him a hat to shade his eyes, so he borrowed mine. He looks the part of a true Nascar fan though.

Riley & Richard walking along headed to the races! But then it was a really long walk from the trailer to the track. So Riley decided to hitch a ride from Papaw Richard.
